SPEC-TACULAR!

I've been a glasses wearer most of my life. I remember my very first pair were a free NHS pair in grey plastic. Followed by metal ones which made me look like Harry Potter. I've tried different contact lenses in the past but my eyes just don't seem to like them so I suffer in Summer. I've had to embrace my specs over they years and decided when I was around 13 that I would make them work for me. I adopted plastic frames as they were more unusual at the time (I like being quirky) and I have never looked back. I now feel like my glasses are a part of me, and help define my image so finding a pair I like is always an exciting thing!

One very late evening I was browsing http://fatgirlslikeniceclothestoo.wordpress.com where the lovely Deena blogged about some new specs she had bought. When I saw them my jaw hit the floor and I went straight to the website to buy a pair. I'm a fond user of the cheapo websites out there for spectacle wearers, where you can get glasses including lenses for under £10. These though...these were special. So special, that I spent over £100 on them!

Behold...

I'm in love with them and plan on wearing them for a very long time! They're the kind of glasses that will look good when I'm 80 so they were worth every penny!
Is there a favourite item you have that you  feel helps define your style?

  1. These look lovely on you!

I have worn glasses for the past few years. I sometimes wear contacts, but find glasses much more comfortable and convenient for day to day wear.

I'll be sure to check that website out - I am on the search for a pair of large cats eye glasses!

  2. I have worn glasses since the age of 11, but I more often wear contacts now. I just got a pair of Versace frames, though, but yours are way more fabulous :D

  6. These are great! The shape is fantastic with it's slight upward turn on the edges. As a life long glasses wearer myself, I totally understand what you mean about them being a part of you. I don't even feel like myself without them any more. You look great in these!

  7. Love them! I've vowed to actually -stop- paying so much for glasses, though, as my prescription changes yearly. Lesson learned after spending over $200 on a pair of glasses that lasted me about 5 months before I needed new ones.

  8. oh my, those are GORGEOUS on you! I just recently started wearing glasses and only have one pair. i'm on the hunt for a spare, but want something more "me." i've been putting it off for so long now, but your post just inspired me to go try on some new kinds of frames :)

  9. Thanks ladies! I can be quite stingy when it comes to glasses and I generally buy from the cheapo websites but I find that my glasses are beginning to look like everyone elses so it's quite nice having a pair I haven't seen many others wearing before. Also I have longed for cat-eye style glasses for years but always found my face was way too wide and my cheeks too plump. These are the answer to my prayers!

  10. Hiya!

I ordered some glasses from smartbuyglaases and wondered how long you waited for delivery?? I'm getting panicky!

  11. @ Louise - I waited over 3 weeks. Lots of excuses with frames being on order, lenses taking a long time etc. I emailed them and they were pretty fast at responding, so if you need peace of mind I would email.
